THE FLIGHT ATTENDANT - HBO MAX & SKY

There's a brilliant gag in the opening episode of THE FLIGHT ATTENDANT, when Kaley Cuoco, dressed for work in her blue hostess outfit, misses her transport to the airport (bad stuff has happened in her hotel) and so she climbs aboard a rival airline's bus. Sitting on the bus in her blue outfit, she is surrounded by a troop of rival hostesses in red outfits. She stands out like a sore thumb, like she has been caught wearing the enemy uniform. The distress of the morning makes her feel nauseous... she reels in her seat, and we expect her rivals to enjoy her debilitation but, no, they are hostesses, and so they reach out as one to see if she is okay. It's a lovely moment. The director cuts away as soon as the point is made. That perfect cut was when I knew how much I loved the series.

THE FLIGHT ATTENDANT is funny and self-regarding; ironic, fast-moving and beautiful. Like its protagonist.

A crime-thriller with split screens and a self-aware score. A must-see. It is on HBO MAX and Sky.
